The Atelier

Sketches, cloth and the geometry behind ORTHIC. Every piece starts here, on paper, before it becomes cloth.

Ink study of a triangle with its three altitudes; the orthic triangle joining their feet is traced in gold

The name · OR-thik

Made only from true lines

ORTHIC comes from geometry. Take any triangle and drop a perpendicular from each corner to the opposite side. Where those three altitudes land, join the points, and you have the orthic triangle: a smaller shape hidden inside the first one, made only from true lines.

The root is the Greek orthos, “straight, right”. We wanted a name that means precision and uprightness, because that is how the clothes should feel.

The philosophy

True lines

A shoulder that follows the body. A seam that sits where it should. A leg that falls cleanly.

Quiet weight

We name the fibre and the weight, and let the cloth carry the piece. One small tonal mark, never more.

LA light

Los Angeles gives us ease: sun-faded colour, canyon neutrals and the soft blazer over a tee.

The collections

LINEA MORBIDA

The “soft line”. Unstructured jackets, pleated trousers, overshirts and knit polos, built without canvas or padding.

QUIET WEIGHT

Luxury streetwear in serious fleece and jersey: heavy hoodies, tees and crews, cut relaxed and long.

LONG HOUR

Refined staples. Knits, shirts and tees you reach for without thinking.

CURVE STUDY

Denim cut with trouser logic: curved legs, panelled washes, clean backs. No rips, no whiskers.

CANYON HOUR

LA sun. Faded colour and painted canyon light on easy summer shapes.

STATEMENT

Short runs of plain-spoken tees. Said once, then gone.

Five pieces, on paper

Ink and pencil flat of the Morbida Soft Blazer in loden hopsack, with a callout on the soft natural shoulder

Linea Morbida

Morbida Soft Blazer, Hopsack

Wool-linen hopsack (target 55% wool / 45% linen, 260–300 g/m²). No canvas and no shoulder pad: the sleeve head is eased with a single cotton-wadding roping strip, so the shoulder stays natural. Two buttons, an 8 cm notch lapel, three patch pockets with pick-stitched edges. Half-lined in printed viscose twill.

Curve Study

Curve Study Curved Jean

12.5 oz rigid 100% cotton denim, 3×1 right-hand twill, rinse indigo, sanforised. The side seam and inseam rotate forward about 2 cm at the knee, so the leg arcs from knee to hem. Clean back pockets. The only mark is a 0.8 cm square tonal bar-tack.

Quiet Weight

Quiet Weight Hoodie

16.5 oz/yd² (560 gsm) cotton-blend fleece. A double-layer hood with no drawcord or eyelets, a bar-tacked kangaroo pocket and a slightly dropped shoulder. Across the upper back, one line in cream: QUIET THINGS LAST LONGER.

Pencil flat of the Long Hour Classic Knit Crew in loden with a magnified rib-stitch detail

Long Hour

Long Hour Classic Knit Crew

A 450 gsm cotton-blend knit (55% cotton / 45% polyester), knitted to order. A classic regular fit, with the hem band sitting at the high hip. Clean, with no mark to read.

Sketch of the Canyon Hour Sun Tee with an original painted canyon at dusk flowing across the body and sleeves

Canyon Hour

Canyon Hour Sun Tee

300 gsm cotton with 5% elastane, printed edge to edge before cutting. Our original painting, The Canyon at Vespers, is matched across the shoulder and side seams, so it reads as part of the cloth, not a square stuck on top.

The signature twists

One idea per garment

Back quotes. Short original lines, like QUIET THINGS LAST LONGER or STILL WATER, WARM STONE, set in small serif capitals across the upper back.

Gold-thread writing. A tiny ORTHIC · MMXXVI at the chest or inside a waistband, about 6 mm tall. Old-gold thread on made-to-order pieces; metallic antique gold on our cut-and-sew pieces.

Symbols. The Olive-and-Key Crest, an olive branch crossed with an old warded key inside a thin ring. It’s stitched on a blazer pocket or engraved on a jean button.

Painted prints. Original paintings in a Renaissance manner (skies, canyons, olive groves) printed into linings, facings and all-over tees. Each one is engineered to the pattern, so it sits in the fabric, not on it.

One mark per garment. Every seam on purpose.
